Evaluation questions:
Is the final design/production similar to the original preferred design option?
Yes, the final design production is similar to the original preferred design option.
Does the production work as expected?
The production works as expected, although the overall power output of the vehicle is quite limited which was not anticipated. Although by using fully charged batteries it is able to operate at a decent capacity.
Were any changes made whilst making the product?
Some of the changes include:
Could any improvements have been made to the production?
Some of the improvements that could have been implemented are:
Did the timeline coincide with the production of the project as predicted, if not why?
The timeline coincided with the production quite accurately with a few weeks differing because of unexpected errors such as:
Were there any different tools used other than those in the tool sheet?
No,. all the tools that were used were the same as in the tool list presented.
Were the testing methods effective?
The testing methods were quite effective providing various information on how the system performs. Some of the results include:
Did the production go well?
The production went reasonably well, finishing in the time constraints. Although there were many problems that occurred during the programming phase which caused some delay to the overall production, extensive testing provided information on what was causing the system to operate incorrectly.
Are you happy with the final product?
Overall I am happy with the final product, I found it to be quite interesting to make and it has performed to a good standard.
Yes, the final design production is similar to the original preferred design option.

The production works as expected, although the overall power output of the vehicle is quite limited which was not anticipated. Although by using fully charged batteries it is able to operate at a decent capacity.
Were any changes made whilst making the product?
Some of the changes include:
- Attaching an extra power supply to power the motors individually.
- Installing a secondary picaxe board to run the arms feature.
- Connecting a trailer to the main system to carry the battery packs.
- Used a rigid piece of metal to connect the trailer to the vehicle to ensure it would not be run obver when reversing.
Could any improvements have been made to the production?
Some of the improvements that could have been implemented are:
- An additional power supply to give the unit more power.
- An alternate remote design.
- Re-arranged the picaxe boards so they used less space.
Did the timeline coincide with the production of the project as predicted, if not why?
The timeline coincided with the production quite accurately with a few weeks differing because of unexpected errors such as:
- Poor soldering resulting in having to build a new infrared receiver board.
- Wires coming loose.
- Testing done incorrectly.
Were there any different tools used other than those in the tool sheet?
No,. all the tools that were used were the same as in the tool list presented.
Were the testing methods effective?
The testing methods were quite effective providing various information on how the system performs. Some of the results include:
- The speed the system travels at on a flat plane surface.
- The distance the system can be away from the controller before it loses transmission.
- The amount of incline that the system can travel up.
